Home Security: Protect what you Love
Your home is your castle. It is the place where what is yours is nurtured and protected. You need to keep your home safe from intruders. Often the residents of a home are just a step behind the burglars and intruders, simply out of ignorance. There are a few easy things you can do to shore up your home and make it much less inviting to would-be thieves and burglars. A little investment in home security can make all the difference in the world.
Home security does not need to be a huge investment. Simple things like timers that turn on the lights at a certain time and motion sensor lights go a long way in protecting your home. Keep trees trimmed back so that they do not provide access to upper level windows, or conceal a burglar.
Another simple but often forgotten home security tip is to lock your doors, even if you are home. Keeping windows locked, especially when out, is also crucial. In nearly half of all home robbery cases, the thieves enter through open windows.
Avoid any sign of the home being unoccupied, like mail piling up at the door, or the lawn looking unkept. These things can send the signal that the home is empty and invite burglars. Also, avoid signs of wealth, like throwing out the boxes of expensive electronics. Your new flat screen box in the trash can be too great a temptation for a thief to ignore.
Your home security strategy can be a state of the art security system, or it can be a combination of small investments that make your home less inviting or even foreboding for thieves and intruders. One thing is certain, the more effort you make, the safer your home will be, and the more peace of mind you will have in knowing that what you love is protected.
